The South Korean airline Korean Air recognized a same-sex couple as “family” on a flight departing from Canada on Dec. 9. The lesbian couple was allowed to combined their miles in the airline’s SkyPass program. Same-sex marriage is not legally recognized in South Korea, and gay rights activists welcome the decision. The couple got married in Canada in 2013, and submitted their Canadian marriage certificate to have their marital status recognized.
