Legendary golfer Park Se-ri has become the first South Korean athlete to receive the Bob Jones Award from the US Golf Association (USGA) since the award’s launch in 1955. Park, who is now retired, is often credited with inspiring a generation of South Korean women who went on to dominate the LPGA. She was only 20 years old when she won the McDonald’s LPGA Championship and the US Women’s Open in 1998, which earned her the title of 1998 LPGA Rookie of the Year. This will be the first time a female athlete has won the Bob Jones Award since Annika Sorenstam of Sweden won it in 2012. (provided by Sema Sports Marketing)
