The “4+1” consultative body comprising the ruling Democratic Party, the Bareunmirae Party, the Justice Party, the Party for Democracy and Peace, and lawmakers from an emerging party have reached an agreement on a fast-tracked bill for electoral reform. The Liberty Korea Party is not included, as it opposes the bill. The body agreed to maintain the current number of National Assembly seats at 300; 253 will be decided by elections. The remaining 47 will be proportional parliamentary seats, 30 of which will be distributed according to a system of proportional representation across multiple parties.
