The main opposition Liberty Korea Party (LKP) began a filibuster at the National Assembly on Dec. 23 in its campaign against a fast-tracked bill for electoral reform, on which all lawmakers from all other major parties are in agreement. The filibuster proceeded after National Assembly Speaker Moon Hee-sang introduced a parliamentary vote for the bill, and is expected to continue through Christmas. Other reform bills included those for overhauling South Korea’s prosecutors.
